That price is $249 a year for registered agent service. It is flat, it renews on its own, and we could not find a first-year discount attached to it anywhere.

In fairness, that structure is more honest than a teaser. What you pay in month one is what you pay in year four, with no date on the calendar where the number quietly doubles. It is simply the highest flat annual rate in our Florida comparison.

Getting Off LegalZoom Before the Next $249 Posts

An auto-renewing subscription rewards early action, so the useful question is what Florida wants from you and how long it takes to give it.

Not much, is the answer. The state's change-of-agent statement for an LLC goes to the Division of Corporations with a $25 fee, and the document itself is one page of information you already have to hand.

Your replacement has to clear Fla. Stat. § 605.0113 first. That means a resident individual, a Florida company whose own filing is active, or an out-of-state company registered to do business here. Whichever it is, the address on file has to be that agent's real place of business inside the state, never a mail drop, and the state refuses PO boxes outright. Your own LLC cannot hold the job either, though a member or officer may take it personally if they are willing to publish where they sit.

Then sequence it properly. Appoint the incoming agent, file the change, watch for the updated record on Sunbiz, and only then cancel the LegalZoom subscription. In that order your entity is never sitting on the public register without somebody appointed to receive a lawsuit. In the other order it is, and no renewal date is worth that exposure.
