Why We Gave Ourselves the Top Spot

Somebody had to be first, and since we're writing the list, it's us. Here's the case, and you can judge whether it holds up. Service of process gets scanned and emailed the same day it arrives, not batched for later in the week. The renewal is the same $99 you paid the first year, which you'll notice is not how several services below operate. There's no upsell menu waiting behind checkout: no compliance package, no premium tier, no worry-free add-on. Your filings carry a real Florida street address. And the one extra fee we do charge is printed in plain sight: $15 per item if you want mail beyond service of process scanned.

One thing we won't claim is the lowest price in the state. Real people answer their phones, and their privacy commitments come across as genuine. The only knock from our chair is that the renewal runs higher than ours.

BetterLegal ($90/year)

BetterLegal publishes $90 per year, the lowest advertised annual rate on this list. Credit where due: if price is the whole decision, this is the number to beat, and we don't beat it. We couldn't verify their first-year terms, so treat $90 as the figure to budget and confirm the details at checkout.

Rocket Lawyer ($125/year)

Rocket Lawyer charges $125 per year, and it's the same $125 across every membership tier, with no first-year discount that we could find. That consistency is worth something. The agent service lives inside a much larger legal platform, which is convenient if you also want document templates and attorney access, and just extra surface area if you only need an agent.

ZenBusiness ($199/year renewal)

ZenBusiness has built a genuinely polished platform, and the dashboard experience is ahead of most of this list. The pricing is the part to squint at: a standalone registered agent purchase starts at $99 plus state fees for year one, then renews at $199 per year. The first-year number does the advertising and the renewal number does the collecting, so make your decision based on the $199.

Bizee, formerly Incfile ($149/year standalone)

Bizee throws in free registered agent service with LLC formation for anywhere from 3 to 12 months depending on the package, which is a real perk if you're forming a company anyway. Standalone, it's $149 per year. Put the end of the free stretch on your calendar, because $149 is what arrives after it.

LegalZoom ($249/year)

LegalZoom brings the biggest brand name in the industry, and there's real comfort in that for some owners. It's priced accordingly: $249 per year, flat, auto-renewing, with no first-year discount found. That's the highest flat annual rate in the table.

Swyft Filings ($149 per quarter)

Swyft Filings bills $149 quarterly, which annualizes to roughly $596 per year, and the annualized figure is the one that matters when everyone else quotes yearly. We found no distinct first-year discount either. Quarterly billing makes the true cost easy to misread, so if you go this route, keep an eye on your card statements.

Inc Authority (renewal not published)

Inc Authority includes the first year free, at $0, which sounds great right up until you ask what year two costs. That number is not published anywhere we could find: not the FAQ, not the package pages, not the homepage. A renewal you can only learn at checkout or on the phone is exactly the teaser pattern this page exists to flag, so it sits last.

What Florida Law Asks of Your Agent

Whichever service you pick has to satisfy Fla. Stat. § 605.0113. The agent must be a Florida resident, a Florida entity with an active Division of Corporations filing, or an out-of-state entity authorized to transact business here. The registered office has to be a Florida street address identical to the agent's business address, PO boxes don't qualify, and somebody has to be present during normal business hours. One wrinkle catches people every year: your company can't name itself as its own agent, though an officer or member can take the job as an individual. All nine vendors in the table clear this bar, so the real differences are price and service.

Switching Agents Costs $25 in Florida

Good news if you're stuck with a service you don't love: Florida makes leaving cheap. An LLC files the Statement of Change of Registered Office or Registered Agent or Both, form INHS18, with the Division of Corporations and pays a $25 state fee. Corporations file their own version of the change form and pay $35. There's a shortcut, too: while the annual report window is open, January 1 through May 1, you can designate a new agent right on the report and skip the separate filing.
